Hare Krishna,
In the 6th chapter of Bhagavad-gita Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna's that the mind can be controlled by practice and detachment. Throughout the 6th chapter Krishna gives so many wonderful instructions on control of the mind that a through study of this chapter greatly helps one develop insight into bringing the mind under the control of the self.
For the practicing devotee there are some very important practices necessary for control of the fickle mind. For-most is regulated chanting of the maha mantra
Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare
Additionally, one should become regulated in their lifestyle. Simple living and high thinking are the key ingredients to gradually bringing the unbridled senses and mind under control. The more we place Krishna in the center of all our activities, the less we will be influenced by the modes of material nature and the more we will not be disturbed by mental agitation.
So seriously take to devotional practice, sincerely chant Hare Krishna, and center all your activities around pleasing Krishna and His devotees. This will quickly bring you to the state of pure chanting where you mind will be constantly absorbed in transcendence.
Sincerely,
Dulal Chandra dasa
