Solution to dirty mind
November 03 , 2007
Hare Krishna,
Lord Krishna explains in the Bhagavad-gita that the mind can be controlled by constant practice and detachment. Therefore we must make a determined effort if we are to be successful in bringing the restless mind and senses under control. And as Arjuna confided to Krishna, this appears more difficult than controlling the wind. But Krishna Consciousness offers the simple solution to the uncontrollable mind, absorption in devotional service.
As you are a devotee of Krishna, you have direct experience of the wonderful taste of prasadam. When you consider a wonderful plate of prasadam or a plate of food offered at a cafeteria which one are your going to accept? It's a no brainer, the prasadam is a higher taste. Similarly, engaging the mind in the Krishna consciousness is a much higher taste than that afforded by mundane sex life and sense gratification. However, we are so conditioned and diseased by material life it is often hard to realize the higher taste of engagement in the devotional practices of hearing and chanting.
So please take shelter of Krishna's instructions in Bhagavad-gita, and gradually bring the restless mind under the control of the higher self through the practice of devotional service. Although it may be a little difficult you have Lord Krishna on your side, and if you pray for His help your efforts will certainly be successful.
Wishing you all the best, I remain
Sincerely,
Dulal Chandra dasa
