What is an Uttama adikari
October 24 , 2007
Hare Krishna.
"Uttama" means ultimate, topmost, top of the heap, king of the hill, the very best, you get my drift.
When we look at the different levels of advancement of Krishna's pure devotees, even though they are all pure in their desire to become Krishna's devotee and full surrender still there are distinctions.
Kanistha adikari - just starting out, still burdened with material hankerings due to conditioning from years, lifetimes, yugas, well hell since time immorial (we simply can't trace out how long we have been traveling through various bodies in the wheel of samsara).
Madhyma adikari - intermediate state of advancement, full convinced of the goal of Krishna Consciousness and not yet fully self-realized. He is steady in devotional practice and preaches Krishna Consciousness for the benefit of everyone, no longer disturbed by the influence of Krishna's external potency and gradually advancing to the state of unadulterated, unmotivated pure love for Krishna.
Uttama adikari - Krishna's unalloyed pure devotee who exists simply to selflessly serve Krishna as He desires. He is fully self-realized, in full awareness of his eternal constitutional loving relationship with Krishna in one of five primary rasas. He see everyone as Krishna's devotee, making no distinction based upon bodily designation or position. He is so much in love with Krishna and absorbed in transcendental ecstasy that from that platform of pure love he does not preach. He does sometimes take on the characteristics of a Madhyma in order to preach and uplift suffering humanity to the level of Krishna Consciousness.
With pleasure,
your servant,
Dulal Chandra dasa
